Geneva is becoming less popular for businesses.
A survey by the Foundation for the Attractiveness of Geneva surveyed 88 companies – accounting for 30,000 jobs in the canton - and six out of ten say its not as good a location as it was in 2022.
A third of the companies say they are considering moving out.
Transport tops the list of complaints, with traffic jams, endless construction sites, and poor coordination frustrating nearly 80% of respondents.
Taxes are the second major concern, especially Geneva’s high levy on business assets.
Finance Minister Nathalie Fontanet notes some tax cuts took effect this year and says talks are underway to revisit rejected reforms.
But with tough competition from Zurich, Zug, and Vaud - and ongoing issues like housing, red tape, and rising security worries - Geneva’s once-solid appeal seems under pressure.
