The Geneva University Hospital is triggering its ‘crisis mode’ as the number of people infected with Covid continues to climb.

The hospital says the idea is to make sure it can care for as many people as possible whether they have Covid or not.

It will dedicate more beds to Covid patients and extend cooperation with private clinics which are also looking after those affected by the virus-
The hospital is dealing with 11 in intensive care, 5 in intermediate care and 67 others. The hospital says the vast majority of those being treated intensively are unvaccinated.

Two weeks ago, there were just 30 Covid patients.

Visits will be limited to only close family and friends and then only for an hour.

The hospital’s testing and vaccination centre is running at full speed. It’s testing 300 a day and vaccinating 470 a day. That includes everyone from first doses to boosters.
