Geneva gets tax cut - but no bridge

This won't happen

In Geneva, unsurprisingly, the voters agreed to have a tax cut. It will work out at an average of 8.7% - but middle earners could be paying 11% less.

The canton says the cuts are possible due to bigger than expected tax receipts from companies – especially from commodity trading firms.

It’s the only ‘yes’ vote.

The pedestrian bridge running next to the Mont-Blanc Bridge has been rejected, as have changes to zoning laws which would have given more power to developers.

And proposed changes to how public transport fares are set. The change would have removed the need for a vote each time, the people said no.

In Lancy, voters have decided to remove advertising billboards from public property.
