Geneva firefighters send equipment to Ukraine

Wikipedia

Geneva firefighters are sending equipment to their Ukrainian colleagues.

The depot near Plainpalais is being filled with ladders, lighting, helmets and hoses.

The team refused to wait for complicated permission from their superiors and the canton and so contacted the foreign ministry in Bern directly who gave them contact details of the Polish fire department which is ferrying equipment across the border.

The Polish teams gave a list of desperately needed material which is now being loaded on pallets and will be taken by Geneva firefighters to Poland.

Costs of the convoy – likely to be around 4 or 5 trucks - will be covered by donations and the firefighters will be driving on their own time.
