Geneva sheep and cow farmers are preparing for the arrival of wolves with new, powerful, electric fences.
There have been more wolf sightings in the canton, but it’s thought a pack has yet to make its home in the area.
One farmer in Meinier is following official advice and is encircling his fields with the fences. He points out that a wolf could jump it, but it’s thought they won’t as they won’t be able to get the prey out afterwards. Mathieu Meylan told the Tribune de Genève, he believes the wolves have been attracted by deer, which are becoming more common.
