Geneva could foot the G7 bill

Geneva fears it will be left with the security bill from a G7 summit just across the border in Évian, according to 24 heures.

The paper reports that Paris is refusing Bern's requests to share the cost of policing, even as Geneva prepares for major demonstrations expected on 14 June.

French officials reportedly blame the planned protests on a Swiss People's Party vote rather than the summit itself.

Four Geneva parliamentarians have voiced anger at what they call a lack of French solidarity.

The dispute leaves Geneva facing the prospect of paying to police an event it is not hosting.
