Some Geneva bars are said to be considering applying their own stricter rules than the government as it may help them.
Many complain the rules that mean masks have to be worn and customers can only drink while sitting is putting people off.
But if the bars apply the so called 2G rules - which will ban those with only a negative test – then inside it can be far more relaxed.
It’s one solution the owner of Bottle Brothers in Eaux-Vives says they’re thinking about it. Andréa Bartolini told the 20 Minutes newspaper that people don’t drink the same when sitting. If they’re standing the atmosphere is more festive.
Bars and restaurants around the canton say they’ve suffered a wave of cancellations since the new rules, hitting one of the busiest times of the year.
