The minimum wages in cantons Geneva and Neuchâtel, which were threatened by a conflict with federal laws, have been granted a reprieve.
The law says national collective bargaining agreements must take precedence over cantonal minimums, even if it’s lower.
But an upper house of parliament committee is recommending those minimum wage laws already in effect should remain.
In 2026, the minimum hourly wage will reach CHF 24.59 in Geneva and CHF 21.35 in Neuchâtel.
