Frontalier health costs to stay flat next year

There’s some health insurance relief for frontaliers - their premiums will stay flat in 2026.

A feared 65% hike has been postponed until at least 2028, as the reform of Switzerland’s risk compensation system is not ready.

Parliament voted last year to include commuters and retirees abroad in the scheme, a move meant to reduce inequalities but one that could sharply raise their costs.

It will mean that some premiums for Swiss based payers could drop slightly – especially those in Geneva – but those outside the country would have to pay more.
