A new study shows Switzerland’s top football leagues are now generating more than a billion francs a year for the economy and supporting thousands of jobs.
The study by consulting firm EBP and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences, is the first of its kind in more than a decade.
It finds that the Super League brought in CHF 1.3bn in direct and indirect revenue last season.
That marks a sharp rise since the last study in 2013, with revenues up 63 percent.
The 12 Super League clubs create over 4,000 jobs and fans spend CHF 82m on food, transport and accommodation – that’s in addition to the price of the tickets.
