First ski resorts open this weekend

The first ski resorts open this weekend - and there is snow to have a fun day.

In Valais, Saas-Fee and Zermatt open on Friday and Mürren-Schilthorn in the Bernese Oberland on Saturday.

There is enough snow, but you do have to go above 3,000 meters. There’s been fresh snow over the past few days and many resorts have carefully stored the snow that fell last season, by covering it with protective sheets.

Saas-Fee says it will have 20 km of slopes open, in Zermatt, around the Matterhorn, the tourist office says nine out of the 26 lifts will be open at the end of the week.

Many more resorts will be opening throughout November.
