Federal judges have cleared the way for Geneva cantonal gamekeepers to shoot deer in Versoix.
As Geneva bans hunting, the canton says the culling is essential to control the population and protect crops and the forest.
But for the last three years animal rights groups have tried to stop it – and for the third time the courts have allowed it. The groups argue contraception should be used instead.
The shooting, which is underway, will continue until the end of the month.
