In a sign of the growing acceptance and importance of women’s football – a fan zone has been set up in Geneva so fans can watch the Women’s Euro Championships on a big screen currently underway in England.
While the number of fans watching the game is well below those who were watching the men’s competition a couple of years ago – many say they believe that’s due to a lack of marketing for the zone – not lack of interest.
Tomorrow’s match is likely to get far more in front of the screen when Switzerland meet Portugal at 6pm.
The big screen has been set up on the Quai Gustav-Ador.
