Eurovision in Basel: 1,300 Police Officers on Duty

With the Eurovision Song Contest set to kick off in Basel next week, emergency services are preparing for an unprecedented operation.

The event, which runs from May 9 to 17, spans both cantons of Basel-City and Basel-Country and is described as extraordinarily large and complex.

According to officials, Basel cannot manage the mega-event alone.

In response, 1,300 police officers from across Switzerland will be deployed to ensure safety.

The bi-cantonal police task force announced the details yesterday, emphasizing the need for tight cooperation due to the event’s cross-border nature.

It marks one of the largest joint security operations the region has seen.
