End of anonymous long distance train tickets

Privacy campaigners are complaining its no longer possible to buy a long-distance train ticket without giving your name, date of birth and email address.

Some worry about the amount of personal details being held by Swiss Federal Railways.

A recent report by a German consumer protection group pointed out the SBB sometimes held onto details for years. But the train company says details are normally deleted after 30 days.

The reason for the increased information, says the SBB, is now the tickets are printed on normal paper, instead of vouchers. That makes them easier to forge.
