Electricity down in Geneva by 90,000 homes

Geneva saved enough electricity last year that it was the equivalent of 90,000 households.

The utility company, the SIG says it's delighted at the result and puts it down to its Eco21 programme which provided households and businesses information to help cut power use.

The canton also boasts three communes that use the least electricity in the country, Avully, Chancy and Onex.

The whole country is using less electricity, just under 1% - but Geneva is down 1.4%.
