easyJet efforts to cut emissions worth 'peanuts'

Efforts by the budget airline easyJet to cut carbon emissions is being dismissed as a drop in the ocean by the Transport and Environment Association.

The airline says it has installed new software which will save 1% of fuel and will cut its emissions by 88,000 tonnes.

It says it has invested millions in the technology which makes landing more fuel efficient.

But Yves Chatton from the Transport and Environment Association says the cut is ‘peanuts’ and is wiped out by the growth in air travel.

He says the only solution is to reduce air travel overall.
