E-vignette big bang launch Friday

(c) admin.ch

It will be the big bang launch of the e-vignettes this Friday.

Although the electronic autoroute stickers have been available since the summer, from Friday, the 2024 version will be released.

Demand is likely to be strong as many motorists are expected to take the option not to have a sticker on their car anymore.

Over the last 4 months a quarter of a million e-vignettes have been sold – mainly to tourists, as residents would have bought theirs at the beginning of the year.

The Federal Customs Office says the system is now well tested and it’s confident everything will work well from Friday.

The vignette is linked to the licence plate – which means those who may use the same plate on different cars will only need one. Before they had to buy a sticker for each car.

Traditionalists can still have a sticker if they want.

There have been warnings about spam websites offering the e-vignette, but charging more than   CHF 40.

Buy it only through e-vignette.ch – and never pay more than CHF 40.

The website is available in English.
