Police say they’ve seized a large amount of cocaine and cash from gangs originating in West Africa.

As part of a plan called Operation Jackal, which includes several Swiss forces and Interpol, police secured nearly 9 kilos of cocaine, close to        CHF 100,000 in cash, and arrested 22 people.

The Federal Police Office says they’re mainly from Nigeria.

The major drug seizures were in Geneva and Lausanne.

Police say the gangs are not just involved with drugs, but also human trafficking and money laundering.

They point out Geneva is an attractive city to operate in due to its proximity to a border and say it’s a good logistical base.
