Hundreds of drivers are facing fines from French authorities for taking pictures of an accident on the A40 autoroute last month.
Last Wednesday, a truck overturned near Bonneville and 240 drivers were identified slowing down to take pictures.
French road rules prohibit using a phone while driving and slowing down unnecessarily.
The fines could be well over EUR 100 and drivers are likely to get points removed from their licences.
