Driverless taxis coming soon

Chinese tech giant Baidu is bringing its driverless taxis to Switzerland.

In partnership with PostBus, the company announced yesterday it will begin trials of its autonomous taxi service, called AmiGo, before the end of the year.

The vehicles will operate across the cantons of St. Gallen and both Appenzells, with full service expected by early 2027.

Users will be able to book rides or share trips via a mobile app.

The move marks Baidu’s first major European rollout, as it faces growing competition in China’s autonomous driving market.

Baidu plans to roll out in Germany and the UK next year.
