Driver fined for hitting two girls with frosted windows

A driver has been fined more than CHF 4,000 for hitting two girls on a crossing because he hadn’t seen them.

He admitted to police he hadn’t cleared ice from his windscreen sufficiently one morning.

The incident was last February in Lausanne.

The 50-year-old was only a few hundred meters from his home. He said he was late for work.

One of the girls was hospitalized for two days with head injuries. The other suffered a mild leg injury.

Police are reminding drivers that all windows should be cleared before setting off.
