Authorities in Geneva are preparing for possible unrest ahead of the G7 summit in the nearby French town of Évian in June.
City councillors have backed a motion calling for measures to protect businesses and anticipate protests, recalling the damage caused during the 2003 G8 summit.
Municipal officials say they are concerned about a lack of communication from cantonal authorities as planning continues. Meanwhile, a large anti-G7 demonstration planned in Geneva for June 14 has not yet been formally authorized.
