A village in canton Bern is earning a reputation for being a death road for cats, and locals are demanding action.
The village of Orvin, which is just outside Biel, lost 12 cats last year due to traffic running through the middle.
Locals say cars drive too fast, higher than the posted 20 or 30 kph limit, on a regular basis.
Local authorities say they have to speak to the canton, as the road falls under cantonal jurisdiction, but a spokesman for the cantonal roads office says there’s little that can be done further as the flow of traffic would be unduly affected.
