A new hydro-electric power station could be built in the shadow of the Matterhorn.
The energy company Alpiq and the commune of Zermatt are thinking of a large dam at the end of the Gorner Glacier which overlooks the high-end resort and the world-famous mountain.
If given to go-ahead, the 85-meter-high dam would produce enough power for around 150,000 homes.
