'Crisis' in Geneva government

The recent hiring decisions of the Green Party member of the City of Geneva government is under scrutiny.

Frédérique Perler runs the Department of Planning, Construction and Mobility.

A couple of weeks ago the Tribune de Genève noted she had hired her half-sister without first revealing their relationship. Now it appears she hired a partner of a member of staff who used a fake mailing address as they lived in Paris.

The city has a policy of giving preference to potential employees who live in a region running from Lausanne to Bonneville in France. Outside that area, an exception must be granted.

The applicant used a mailbox address in Genolier in Vaud for the application.

The Liberal party is now demanding an investigation. The president of the party for the city, Kevin Schmid, says it raises questions about the efficient running of the department.

Today the Tribune de Genève is describing the affair as a political crisis for the city.

Frédérique Perler is refusing to comment.
