Crans-Montana mayor refuses to resign over New Year disaster

Nicolas Féraud, Crans Montana

Crans-Montana president Nicolas Féraud has broken 126 days of silence to confirm he will not resign over the New Year's Day disaster at the Constellation building.

As part of a television interview, the PLR politician called any departure "cowardice" or "desertion", insisting that abandoning office mid-term was not a subject.

Féraud, who is under criminal investigation alongside former councillor Patrick Clivaz, said he had been questioned for nearly twelve hours on 21 April and would likely be heard again.

He defended a coffee with another suspect the following day as a "moment of support", rejecting any suggestion of collusion.

The commune holds its primary assembly on 16 June, where he will face residents directly.
