Covid rules look set to go in stages

BAG

There’s increasing speculation many Covid restrictions will be lifted over the next couple of weeks.

But there won’t be a ‘big bang’ event when all the rules disappear in one go – but a series of changes to bring life back to normal.

The health minister Alain Berset has given clear indications the direction is for more freedom – and it's thought tomorrow the government may end the work from home obligation and mandatory quarantines.

Next week could see the end of the having to show a vaccine pass to enter public spaces, including restaurants, bars and sporting events.

But the head of the Conference of Cantonal Heath Directors, Lukas Engelberger, is urging caution. He says to move to normalisation shouldn’t go too fast. It should be balanced and staggered.

He also says he expects a relaunching of a vaccination drive next autumn.
