The cycle lane on Boulevard Georges Favon in Geneva will be staying.
It was built during the pandemic to persuade people to take bikes instead of being in close contact on public transport.
But it stayed when the crisis was over.
This led to legal action from the motoring organisation, the TCS. It argues the implementation was illegal.
The city is being backed by the Federal Court, which says figures show traffic has only been slowed by 50 seconds since the lane was installed and it’s now safer for pedestrians, as they and cyclist don’t have to share the sidewalk.
