Swiss nationals living in non-EU countries who have received a Covid vaccine not approved in Switzerland, such as the AstraZeneca vaccine, are not eligible for a valid Covid certificate in this country.
In Switzerland, events that require a valid certificate include large gatherings, such as concerts and sports games. Organisers of small concerts and events, and owners of restaurants, for example, can choose whether or not they require people to have a valid Covid certificate.
The Federal Office of Public Health says that vaccination certificates only cover people who have received the required number of doses of a vaccine already approved in Switzerland, such as Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson.
The AstraZeneca vaccine has not yet been approved, in spite of being used in 181 countries around the world.
However, if a Swiss person lives in an EU country and has been fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca, their vaccine certificates are valid as Switzerland officially recognises the EU Covid certificate.
