Court backs school suspension for no test

A Zurich appeal court has backed a school that suspended a student for refusing to take a Covid test.

The case was brought by a father who objected his child was told to go home and isolate after the refusal.

The court – backing a decision by a lower court – ruled the school was entitled to treat the child as infected and suspend them. Judges said 10 days was not long enough to seriously impair the student’s education.

Schools are now testing regularly, especially since the emergence of the Omicron variant.

The parent can still appeal to the Federal Court.
