Could the 2G rule come to Switzerland?

BAG

Should Switzerland bring in the so called 2G rule to thwart a new Covid wave and boost vaccinations?

The more restrictive rules are being brought in in Austria and parts of Germany. It means having a negative test to enter public spaces will not be enough – you need to show vaccinated or recovered.

Since Austria brought in the rules, vaccination rates have jumped.

Experts in Switzerland say they expect cases to climb. The Ticino virologist Andreas Cerny and the Basel cantonal doctor, Thomas Steffen agree something needs to be done.

Steffen says booster shots for the vulnerable need to rolled out and the young need to be vaccinated. He sees 2G as a way to prevent another lockdown.

An explanation of the G rules is available on our website.
