Fresh fruit and vegetables are often contaminated with antibiotic resistant bacteria.
That’s the conclusion of a new study by Agroscope. The government’s agricultural research unit.
The study showed that out of 150 samples – 16 carried drug resistant bacteria. It’s thought the bugs came from faeces – animal and human.
Agroscope says it’s a health risk as the tested food is often consumed raw.
