
Swiss products are losing ground to foreign competition, even on home turf.
In supermarkets like Lidl, imported chocolate now makes up nearly 40% of sales, compared to just 20% in 2000.
The Chocosuisse organisation says consumes are opting for cheaper foreign products.
Swiss cheese is also struggling - its market share has dropped from 77% to about two-thirds, as imports gain favor.
And Swiss wine faces an even steeper fall, with consumption down 8% last year.
Retail experts say Swiss producers need to be more innovative – and point to the dairy company Emmi which is now marketing Swiss mozzarella as an example.
