The Swiss Trade Union Federation has condemned a federal plan to raise the minimum health insurance deductible from 300 to 400 francs.
The proposal, now under consultation, aims to strengthen personal responsibility and help curb rising healthcare costs. The Federal Council notes the minimum deductible has not increased since 2004.
But unions warn the change would mainly affect older people and those with chronic illnesses, and could force more patients to forgo necessary medical care.
