Common drugs remain in short supply

The country is short of many pharmaceutical treatments.

The Geneva University Hospital says around 8% of normally accessible drugs are not available or in very short supply.

The federal government says it is looking into the problem, but in the meantime a website has been set up in Geneva to track missing drugs and to offer alternative solutions.

The hospital says it has two staff members employed full time on sourcing medicine.

Certain antibiotics are in especially short supply.

The new website is designed to let medical professionals know what’s not available or when a previously unavailable drug is back in stock.
