A long-standing Geneva tradition may have to change due to climate change.
Earlier this week around 3,000 children graduating from primary school paraded through city – and today it’ll be the turn of older children.
The marches are steeped in tradition – they date back to 1886 and have their roots in the 16th century.
But they take place in the afternoons – which means over the last few years there have been several cancellations as the weather been too hot – and on Wednesday, the canton handed out 3,000 caps and supplied water to the kids.
The idea is to move the parades, permanently, to the morning in the hope it’ll be cool enough to be safe.
