City Department Director suspended

Frédérique Perler, Director of the Department of Planning, Construction and Mobility, has been suspended after her recent hiring decisions have come under scrutiny.

The City of Geneva made the decision after the Tribune de Genève ran an article showing she had hired her half-sister without first revealing their relationship. She also hired a partner of a member of staff who used a fake mailing address to say they lived in Genolier, as the City has a policy to give preference to potential employees who live in the region between Lausanne and Bonneville in France. The applicant was hired from Paris.

All three contracts have now been terminated.
