Check health insurers statements in case fraud

Health Insurers are asking their customers to check invoices to make sure there are no fees for covid tests that have not been taken.

Swiss Television says there are many cases of people being billed for a test that didn’t happen.

A spokesman for the association, SantéSuisse, says they suspect some tests may have been billed 2 or 3 times – or may never have happened.
It's suspected fraud is the main factor.

The health insurer SWICA is calling on all its customers to check their statements. It says it’s a burden on the confederation which was paying for tests – which means it’s the tax payer that’s paying.

Since the start of the pandemic, over 23 million tests have been carried out in the country.
