Cheaper drugs and new jet from December

There’ll be a few legal changes from the 1st December.

The main one will be the prices of some drugs will fall. The government has cut the cost of 300 drugs which make up just over half used in the country. 

On average, prices will drop by 12% - saving CHF 90m a year.

A new IT system for the civil service will go live. It will allow staff to access other departments easier and should make coordination easier. 

A new agreement with the United States comes into force which will make it easier for young professionals to work in the US. It applies to Swss citizens aged between 18 and 35.

And the Federal Council is getting a new plane. The current jet is 23 years old. Ministers will be able to use a Bombardier Global 7500 - which has enough range to fly to Australia. 

It’s costing CHF 100m.
