Federal prosecutors have dropped charges against a Vaud police officer who was involved in an arrest of a black man in 2018 in Lausanne.
Mike Ben Peter was 39 years old when he was tackled by the officer – and suffered a fatal heart attack.
The authorities say there’s no link between the attempted arrest and the heart attack.
That’s strongly rejected by the man’s lawyer. She called it an insult to the intelligence.
The death of Peter drew comparisons with the death of George Floyd in Minnesota in May 2020 which triggered worldwide protests.
