CERN opens new Science Gateway

CERN Gateway (c) 2023 CERN

CERN’s new Science Gateway was inaugurated on Saturday.

The exhibition centre has two large tubes as its centrepiece linked by bridges over the Route de Meyrin to two large halls, one a 900-seat lecture hall.

The new facility is open to the public with immersive exhibits highlighting the beauty of nature and the wonders of science.

The president, Alain Berset, helped cut the ribbons and predicted the Science Gateway will become a firm favourite for school trips in the 21st century.

CERN’S Director General, Fabiola Gianotti, has been overseeing the project since its inception six years ago.

It’s expected half a million people will visit every year and already there’s a waiting list for school trips.
