Cantons call for better border transport

Five cantons – all with external borders - are calling on the Federal Council to prioritize transport links with neighbouring countries.

Geneva, Vaud, Valais, the two Basels and Ticino are all demanding concrete measures to rapidly develop train lines serving cross border communities. They say it’s not a regional concern, but one of national importance.

The Geneva State Councillor, Pierre Maudet, says a rapidly growing border region cannot afford to have inadequate public transport.
