International Geneva will have to fight to maintain its significance, says the former Swiss president, Micheline Calmy-Rey.
She says Donald Trump’s return to the Whitehouse means international organisations will have to reform to counter the expected negative impact.
She says other nations could take up the slack left by the United States – or even private foundations.
She points out that 33,000 jobs rely on international organisations in the city.
But she says she has faith that international cooperation will prevail and countries alone can’t solve global problems.
