The fate of Geneva as an international city is under such threat it needs a rescue package like the Marshall Plan that was used to rebuild Europe after the Second World War.
That’s the view of the head of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Vincent Subilia.
He’s been to Bern asking the Confederation for a billion francs.
He agrees the amount in significant, but points out international workers are 35,000 jobs – but around a quarter of a million indirect jobs are linked.
He adds that having Geneva as a diplomatic centre is essential for Switzerland.
