Prosecutors in canton Schaffhausen are now seeking people who bought fake certificates – they face a fine of around CHF 600.
Back in October around five people were arrested for selling fake documents. They’ve been released from custody and charges are likely to be filed later.
But now attention is on the purchasers. Prosecutors say most of them come from cantons Schaffhausen and Zurich.
Authorities in canton Sankt Gallen are also cracking down on fake certificates. They believe there are around 9,000 fakes in circulation. Ten people have been arrested.
