Burglaries climb in neighbouring France

While Geneva authorities recently hailed a fall in the number of burglaries in the canton after many years of effort – it seems neighbouring French towns have not been as lucky.

Four municipalities around Annemasse are on a list of the top ten most affected by burglary in France.

Ville-la-Grand, Cranves-Sale, Ambilly and Vétraz-Monthoux all make the top ten which includes the whole of France.

Last year was particularly bad, all saw burglary rates up by around a quarter, but in the case of Vétraz-Monthoux, it was up 86%.

The president of the Annemasse agglomeration, Gabriel Doublet, says the area needs a new police station.
