The body of a hiker who went missing 19 years ago has been found in Ticino.

The 42-year-old man, who lived in Locarno was reported missing in December 2004.

The body was discovered when a passerby noticed some clothing near the mouth of the Ticino River entering Lake Maggiore.

DNA tests have confirmed the identity.

The body was only found because the current drought conditions means the lake level is unusually low.
