The Health Minister Alain Berset is being criticised for comparing Omicron to the flu.
The prominent Swiss virologist Andreas Cerny says it sends the wrong message and could threaten the booster campaign.
Last week at a press conference Berset said the vaccine means Covid is now more manageable like the flu.
Cerny says the statement is a communication error and Berset has shot himself in the foot. He points out Omicron is much more transmissible than the flu and so infects far more people. He also says we don’t know enough about the long-term impact on those who catch it.
Cerny says the comments could raise questions about the usefulness of the booster.
