If you saw a hot air balloon sink into the lake yesterday morning – everyone is OK – it was an exercise.
It was organised by the International Lake Geneva Lifesaving Society. It involved the fire brigade, police, and experts from a ballooning association in Ticino.
It was designed to mimic a balloon running out of fuel and coming down in the lake.
While it may seem a highly specific emergency to train for – it has happened in the past, according to the ballooning experts.
